2017-18 ASUO Budget Process


Submitting a budget proposal does not automatically qualify your organization for a budget hearing. To discuss whether your organization qualifies for a hearing, please reach out to your Committee Tag or to the Committee which has financial authority over your budget.  

Administrative Information

Preparing and Proposing your 2018-19 Budget

  1. Current Student Organizations, Departments, and Contract Service Providers will be provided with their budget documents and relevant resources electronically.  An electronic link to the appropriate budget document(s) will be distributed by email to each unit’s primary contact person.  This communication will originate from a member of the committee with budgetary authority over the unit.

    • Benchmark Forms will be distributed to Departments and Contract Service Providers between October 16 and October 20.  (Student Organizations are not required to submit a benchmark.)

    • Budget Packets will be distributed to all units between October 16 and October 23.

  2. Reference Documents, such as the Current Service Level memo, will be posted to the ASUO website by October 16.  These documents will include cost projections for various goods/services, which may be helpful when developing your budget.

  3. One-on-one consultation and support is available:

    • Student Organizations, Departments, and Contract Service Providers may consult in-person with the Finance Committee Members who authorize their respective budget.  This meeting can occur on a drop-in basis during the relevant committee’s posted office hours, or on a pre-scheduled basis if arranged by email.  Office hours are held in the ASUO Suite and are available online.

    • ASUO Finance will provide in-person consultation to Student Organizations and Finance Committee Members on a drop-in or pre-scheduled basis during the period October 23 to November 10.  Email asuofinance@uoregon.edu or call 541-346-0626 to pre-schedule.  Drop-in times during that period are: TR 2-3:30 p.m. | W 10 a.m.-12 p.m. | W 1:30-3 p.m. 

Any Current ASUO Student Organization, Department or Contracted Service who has not received their budget proposal packet by October 23 should contact ASUO Finance at asuofinance@uoregon.edu or by phone at (541) 346-0626.

Important Budgeting Data

Beginning on July 1, 2018, Oregon's minimum wage will increase from $10.25 to $10.75.  


The below link provides the Budget Hearing Schedule for all committees, (Programs Finance Committee[PFC], Athletics and Contracts Finance Committee[ACFC], Departments Finance Committee[DFC] and EMU Board.

Please open the attached document below to view when your group/organization is scheduled for, if you cannot find your committee/group, there are tabs on the bottom of the online document that will direct you to the correct location.

PFC Budget Proposal Process

The Programs Finance Committee works with ASUO-recognized student organizations on their budgets. This year, all budget requests will be processed electronically.

Each currently recognized student organization will be be sent their student organization-specific budget packets via email. Student Organization's budget proposals must follow the same format as outlined in these documents, for consistency of review. You will notice that the excel spreadsheet has been pre-set to calculate your organization's total budget for you. Do not unlock or edit the formula based cells.

PFC requires that every ASUO-recognized student organization who wishes to receive funds for the next fiscal year meet with a member of the PFC prior to submitting your organization's budget. Please consult the Tag Assignments Document for information which PFC member to contact.

ASUO Finance is offering drop-in consultation for student organizations in need of 1 on 1 support, from October 23 to November 10, on the following schedule:

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 2:00PM - 3:30PM
  • Wednesdays: 10:00AM - 12:00PM & 1:30PM - 3:00PM

DFC Budget Proposal Process

Only those UO Departments which are currently recognized by the DFC may participate in the Incidental Fee Budget Process.

The Departments Finance Committee will be accepting all budget documents electronically this year. Please review the DFC Budget Process Instructions below and submit all documents using the FY 19 DFC Budget Proposal Submission Form.

ACFC Budget Proposal Process

Contract Service Providers which are currently funded by the ACFC are eligible to participate in the Incidental Fee Budget Process. Service Providers wishing to establish a contractual relationship with ASUO need ACFC committee approval to participate in the Incidental Fee Budget Process. 

Budget documents will be submitted and accepted electronically; required forms are available here and should be submitted using the submission form, in accordance with deadlines.
