Our friendly and capable staff is here to answer any questions and assist our student parents in any way they can. 


Becky Girvan, Supervisor


Becky’s role involves coordinating the engagement of students campus-wide and she supervises the Subsidy team. She has a background in government affairs/lobbying and a passion for civic participation and democratic governance. In her free time, she can be found running the trails of southwest Eugene or curled up in her favorite chair with a political novel and a cup of coffee.


Emily Austinson, Program Director 

Hello! My name is Emily and I'm a senior here at the University of Oregon. I am majoring in journalism with a focus in advertising. I'm super excited to be working for the ASUO as a part of the Creative Services and Subsidy Coordinator.


Camila Contreras Merlo Flores, Creative Services and Subsidy Coordinator

Hi! My name is Camila and I am a junior here at UO. I am a journalism student studying public relations in the School of Journalism and Communication and minoring in French and Legal Studies. I am originally from Argentina but have lived in Portland for most of my life. After graduation, I hope to work for a sports team, particularly for the Portland Trail Blazers' communication department!


Amanda Lucas, Creative Services and Subsidy Coordinator

Hello! My name is Amanda and I am a junior at UO. I am currently studying Advertising in the School of Journalism and Communication. I am from Orange County, CA. After graduation I hope to move to New York City and work at an advertising agency.


Nicole Nelson, ASUO Office Manager

Nicole joined the ASUO Team in October 2005. She currently serves as the Associate Students of the University of Oregon (ASUO) Office Coordinator. She provides office support to the student executive and senate bodies, student finance committees and ASUO programs, and supervises both the ASUO student office assistant staff and the Child Care Subsidy Program. Nicole has completed coursework at Houston Community College, Austin Community College and American Institute of Banking. She married in 1983 and is the mother of three. She has interests in the areas training and development of all levels of employees/staff. Nicole enjoys arts, crafts, hiking and watching her children participating in various academic and/or sporting events. Nicole was born in Los Alamos, New Mexico and raised in Houston Texas. She lived in Austin, Texas for thirteen years while working in the banking industry. She moved to the Eugene area in 1997. She joined the ASUO 2005 and began advising the Child Care Subsidy Office in 2006.
