Benefit Administrative Assistant

Priority Given to applications Received by 11:59 P. M. Thursday, February 28, 2019.

This position is primarily responsible for the administrative support associated with ASUO’s Child Care Subsidy and Dependent Benefit Programs. Benefit Administrative Assistants report to the SGES Office Coordinator. 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review, process and approve applications; allocate benefits; and reconcile records in accordance with procedures. Ensure transactions and administrative records are accurate, consistent, and adhere to policy. Maintain procedural logs to ensure continuity of service.
  • Maintain a high degree of benefit programs knowledge in order to accurately represent each of ASUO’s benefit programs with students, applicants, and the general public. Work with supervisor to communicate with program participants and to advertise benefit programs to potential applicants.
  • Positively represent ASUO’s benefit programs with students, their dependents, applicants, ASUO Officers, and members of the public. Preserve strong working relationships with partners, including child care providers, SGES Staff, ASUO Officers, and EMU Staff.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of records and data by upholding administrative policies associated with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”). 
  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant University, State, and Federal requirements (e.g. policy guidelines) in order to apply them. Work with supervisor to clarify requirements as needed.
  • Work with supervisor to improve ASUO benefit programs through program assessment and by sharing ideas for improvement. Revise records and forms (applications, spreadsheets, reports, etc.) as needed by supervisor.

This position is active in Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms and is subject to annual renewal. Summer employment may be available. See the position description for additional information.
